President’s Letter

Hello, Fox Point! I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy our recent stretch of warm weather. Spring is almost here! And with the changing of the seasons, your Fox Point board members and their committees are in full planning mode. There is much going on throughout each of the teams – particularly with common grounds, the lake, and in preparing the pool for the Summer season – so please be sure to read through each report below.
Additionally, a deep tip of the hat to this year’s Fox Point Card Party planning committee of Jen Moore, Tanja Trainor, Steph Radek and Jamie Obszanski. I, along with so many others, enjoyed a fantastic night of conversation and fun amidst the card games. Thank you for all your efforts in planning this great event. I hope to see many of you at the Easter Egg Hunt coming up in April.
Our next Board Meeting will be held in person on Monday, March 17, 7PM at the Village Church. As always, we encourage homeowners to attend our monthly Board Meetings. As always, we welcome ideas, suggestions and feedback.

Common Grounds Report
By Jason Ehlert | Email
Spring is finally on the horizon which will trigger additional projects to begin within the next few months. We are planning again this year to enhance the grounds of the neighborhood. Our vendor will spend time with me in a few months to plan additional work.
Unfortunately the Lake Cook Rd. fence replacement, which is scheduled to start at the end of March, could be delayed. We are working closely with the Village of Barrington and the Illinois Department of Transportation to move forward with permitting. There is a meeting scheduled for next week to further discuss potential next steps for approval. Communication, if timeline change, will be out in the future newsletters.
Please feel free to reach out at grounds@foxpoint.org for any questions or concerns regarding all common spaces around the neighborhood. Thanks!
Architecture Report

As we enter meteorological spring, efforts are ramping up to ensure we proceed with our plans to install a seawall at the Boat Landings this year.
The final required approval is with the Village of Barrington, which has final jurisdiction over the wetlands and stormwater impact over our project. Discussions are ongoing, and we plan to have our Vendor join the March board meeting to provide an overview of project status and next steps.
Separately, embedded here is the link to the current HOA Architectural Approval form to use with any exterior alteration projects. Thanks!
Safety & Welfare Report

With the nicer weather around the corner (…hopefully), we will be seeing more residents enjoying walks, bike rides, and jogs at our Lake Cook Road crossings. It’s a good time for a quick reminder about stop sign safety.
We’ve noticed some rolling stops at the three exits onto Lake Cook Road. To keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers – please remember to come to a complete stop before the crosswalks when exiting the neighborhood.
Taking that extra moment to fully stop, look in all directions, and yield to pedestrians and cyclists helps ensure everyone’s safety. Thank you!
Lake Report

Hello neighbors! As the weather warms up, we eagerly anticipate another exciting year on the lake. The lake remains healthy, and the water clarity is still excellent. The wildlife is waking up, both due to the warmer weather and the cleaner water.
Over the past few years, we’ve stocked bass crappie, bluegill, northern Pike, catfish, and perch—all species that are thriving in the lake and being caught by anglers. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to drop a line!
The lake committee will continue to prioritize improving water quality by increasing natural submerged vegetation and maintaining ongoing chemical maintenance. We have several upcoming projects focused on water quality improvement and are always seeking volunteers to lead special projects or contribute new ideas. If you’re interested, please contact me at lake@foxpoint.org.
As spring approaches, please be mindful of lawn clippings, leaf blowing debris, and other waste. Keep these materials away from the lake whenever possible. When fertilizing, consider using environmentally friendly fertilizer to minimize chemical runoff. If you live on the lake, consider planting native vegetation along the shoreline, which acts as an excellent filtration mechanism for runoff water and provides habitat for our animal friends.
Please consider protecting any trees and shrubs along the shoreline as the weather warms. Beaver activity has been high recently. Damage to trees has been documented. Beaver are present at times in the lake, but Beaver activity from the Cuba marsh is also occurring. As a reminder the HOA is not responsible for any damage from wildlife, beaver or other animals. Recommended protection for trees can be found online. An example is linked HERE.
Additionally, remember to inspect your boats before putting them back in the water. Ensure that your plugs are securely in place and any damage is repaired before use.
The lake committee meeting will be held on the second Monday of every month via Google Meet.

Pool Report

Over the next month, we are planning to fill the lifeguarding positions at the pool for this summer. Applicants have already been hired so don’t delay on this opportunity. If you are interested or know someone that would like to spend their summer poolside, please share these reasons for why being a lifeguard at Fox Point Pool is a great choice! And then direct them to the hiring page on the Chicagoland Pool Management website at – https://www.chicagoland-pmg.com/lifeguard-jobs.
- Enjoy the summer outdoors: breathe the fresh air, get some sun, listen to music
- Make a difference: Lifeguarding is all about keeping people safe and making sure people are having fun. It’s an important job and doing it well is a contribution to our neighborhood.
- Build your resumé: You’ll learn valuable skills and also show self motivation and responsibility. Plus you’ll have the opportunity to move up in positions with experience.
- Be part of a team: From meeting new people to working with friends, lifeguarding takes teamwork and builds friendships.
- Make more money each year: Lifeguards with experience receive increased pay.
- Schedule: Lifeguarding is a great job for high school students and college students.
And lifeguards can also get more hours at the pool by helping as coaches for our Fox Point Dolphins Swim Team. For more information on this opportunity, send an inquiry to swimteam@foxpoint.org.
