Tennis

Thanks to everyone that came out to enjoy the new tennis courts at the Cocktails by the Courts tennis party. 68 Fox Pointers were put on one of three teams, Red, White and Blue, and competed in 9 rounds of 3 matches each to fight for the Fox Point Tennis Champions trophy. The Red Team, with captain Amanda Vandenberg, took home the trophy this year! After the tennis matches were done the crowd enjoyed live music by Mike Silvestri and food by Haybeck’s Catering. A special thank you to Emily Colon, Nicole Jankowski and Tiffany Seely-Brown for helping me plan an amazing night of tennis!
If you haven’t done so already please sign up for Session 2 of tennis classes at Fox Point which run through the week of August 13. This summer we are offering morning and evening cardio tennis classes for adults, as well as lessons for kids ages 4 and up and adult tennis lessons for all levels. Private lessons are also available with the First Serve Pros.
The tennis registration form, information sheet and class schedules for children and adults can be found here https://foxpointorg.wpengine.com/fox-point-tennis-courts/. If you are still interested in registering for tennis at Fox Point this summer please complete the registration form and drop it off to Christine Mickey.
Save the date for the new Fox Point Round Robin Match Play on Friday, August 17. Get a baby-sitter and BYOB to the courts for some fun tennis mixers. Information will go out via Next-door the week of the Round Robins. All levels welcome.
Mark your calendars for September 14, 2018 for the annual Fox Point vs. Biltmore tennis match and dinner party. This was a big hit last summer and we can’t wait to continue this tradition in 2018! More details to follow.
What a fun tennis summer we are having at the new Fox Point tennis courts!
Pool

Pool season is waning! The time of year we most look forward to is coming to an end so get out and enjoy before its too late! Please remember to track our pool hours on the fox point website as we drop to reduced hours once school starts.
It has been a great season thus far even with minor mechanical hiccups. I would like to congratulate the swim and water polo teams on great seasons. I know my kids certainly enjoyed themselves and are already asking about next year.
Swim lessons for our 4-6 year olds that weren’t quite old enough or ready for the swim team were a success. I think most were able to swim a length of the pool by the end of the session! We look forward to continuing this program in the future and will review expanding to even younger residents.
With regards to the pool house, we do have some preliminary drawings on revamping the structure, however the Board will vet out a few of the proposals prior to showcasing at a neighborhood open house. We expect to have an open house or two in late August and will be communicating that timing once the details are finalized. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
A quick note on a revised policy for guest fees of adult children of homeowners. While grandchildren of homeowners were allowed to access the pool without having to pay a guest fee, their parents were not. The Board recently approved a motion allowing adult children of homeowners access to the pool guest fee free! However, as with any guest, the homeowner must be present for the length of stay of their adult children and grandchildren. In other words, a homeowner may not simply “check in” a guest and then leave.
Last, I certainly welcome any feedback on your pool experience whether good or bad. Things won’t change if we have issues that don’t get communicated so please let me know what we can do better!
