Make a Difference.
It is hard to imagine that summer is almost over, and the kids are back in school. It has been one terrific, yet quick summer, here in Fox Point. I hope everyone had the opportunity to enjoy at least some of the great things Fox Point has to offer such as our swimming pool, tennis courts, and/or our breath-taking Lake Louise. I also hope you were able to get out and meet some of the great people that make up our community either on a daily walk or at one of our many social activities.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this summer one of the best on record! Whether you were involved in the pool, tennis, lake, or any social event, your help and support of Fox Point makes a difference. It takes quite a group of dedicated neighbors to help create these memorable events and to keep Fox Point moving forward.
Fox Point continues to be one of the premiere communities in the Chicago metro area. We have a gorgeous neighborhood, tremendous resources, and a community full of great people. While any community can have nice trees, a new swimming pool, a state-of-the-art tennis court, or the incredible views that are Lake Louise, it’s the people who make a difference.
Over the past 50 years, there have been some bumps in the road. We have always worked through the many trials and tribulations of life within our community as we have done within our own families. Bumps are temporary and like all else, pass with time. Let’s stay focused on what makes our community a great place to live. We are a solid community with great people who will continue the 50-year tradition of making a difference and being good neighbors.
From a quick housekeeping standpoint, I ask everyone to welcome new neighbors, check in on a neighbor who may not be as active as they once were, be a good neighbor and comply with speed limits. Watch out for walkers and bikers of all ages, and please, pickup after your pets as you take them on walks around Fox Point. And continue to be courteous to you neighbors!
Have a great fall and good luck to everyone heading back to school.
Safety and Welfare Report

R-E-S-P-E-C-T
I just wanted to highlight a few reminders of the most commonly mentioned topics regarding safety, welfare, and neighborly duties. Many of these issues can easily be resolved with some common courtesy and general R-E-S-P-E-C-T for your neighbors.
R-eminder: Keep your lamp posts lit. It provides what little light we have in the neighborhood at night. When all lamp posts are illuminated, it not only gives the neighborhood a better look, but also creates a safer environment.
E-ducation: Kids are back in school. Please be extra careful driving through the neighborhood during the times our children are walking, biking, or riding the bus to school. It is against the law to pass a stopped school bus with its stop sign displayed! Please also remind your teenage drivers to be cautious and aware of their surroundings when driving through the neighborhood.
S-peeding: This warrants a repeat mention. Simple – just slow it down. Respect those in the street either by foot or on bike.
P-oop: Please clean up after your dog – enough said.
E–njoy: The common areas of Fox Point (boat dock, park, pool, tennis courts, etc.) are for all of us to use and appreciate! Please help keep them clean and enjoyable for all.
C–rosswalk (Kind of): Please do not use the path on the south side for pick-up or drop-off at Lines Elementary. Signs are posted, respect our laws – you will get ticketed.
T-rash: Please remember to put your trash bins out as late as possible on Thursdays and remove the bins at a reasonable time on Friday. It helps the neighborhood look nicer when everyone abides.

Pool
By Horace Seely-Brown | Email
FP neighbors, I regret to inform you but pool season is officially over! Hopefully this doesn’t mean residents go into hibernation mode too early as the weather remains fantastic outside!
We had another great season at the pool and will spend the off-season progressing on a few initiatives. The largest and probably most important in my eyes remains a pool house renovation. We have been working with Gillespie Design Group, an approved architect for commercial pool facilities in the state of IL, to assist with budget and design. We hope to have some presentations to walk thru at the October Board meeting but we will certainly communicate prior so those of you interested in learning more can plan to attend.
Aside from the renovation project, we are reviewing contracts for the management of the pool. Pool Watch is the company that currently manages the staffing of the pool and their contract expires at year end. We have received a new 3 year bid from them and will be looking for a few alternative bids.
While it is not intentional to keep this short and sweet, its simply that time of the year with the pool closed!
See you all around the neighborhood!
Common Grounds
By Jay Roberts | Email
As we wind down a bit and head into Fall, I will be working on completing some smaller projects and continue to look at several projects for next year.
The landscapers have done a pretty good job this year. Currently, we’ve identified several plants at the south side entrance that need to be replaced. We will do this for all common ground area as well for any plants or group of plantings that need to be replaced. The south side entrance for now is the one that needs the most attention and needs be addressed in the next week or so. Right now, is a good time of year for this to catch the rain in the Fall and have some to acclimate over the Winter. In addition, the landscaping crew will also be putting out the Fall annuals soon at both the north and south side entrances.
The village has been out to replace any of the mantles with the large gas lanterns. They will only replace the mantles if two or more are out. For this reason, you may see several that are not completely lit. They cannot replace them individually but must replace them all at the same time. They are still due out later this year to clean the lanterns. They do this for the neighborhood one time a year.
I’m in middle of finalizing a group to come out and start our cul-de-sac renovation project. I’ve identified several within the neighborhood where we will start and then the others we will complete as we go along. This project will include some removal, adding of new plants, and maybe some simple décor. The goal is to update these areas with something simple, add some color, include something easy to maintain, and has a nice clean look. Stay tuned for monthly updates as this project will be ongoing.
Hope everyone had a great Summer and hopefully we will get some great Fall weather! Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Jay
