Fox Point Update: June 2026 Edition

  • On June 1, 2026

President’s Letter

By Andrew Schwarz | Email

Soak it in, Fox Pointers!  School is out, summer is in full swing, and your neighborhood continues to impress.

My family and I spent a low-key Memorial Day hanging around town, and it has me reflecting with a lot of gratitude.   First, toward our Pool Chair Adam Clementi, and the pool committee, for managing a stellar pool opening.  The pool is our Association’s marquee amenity, and it was in mid-season form!  Our other premier amenity, Lake Louise, is clear and bustling with life – early fishing has been active and there have been several turtle species spotted in and around the lake.  Thanks to Steve Kipferl, Lake Chair, as well as the Lake Committee, for their efforts on that front.  Lots to look forward to across Tennis, Social, and Civic as well.

I’m also thankful to Village President Mike Moran, Village Manager Scott Anderson, and Village Chief of Police David Daigle for attending last month’s Board meeting to reinforce rules restrictions around e-bikes and motorized scooters.  “It takes a village” to ensure everyone’s safety and compliance with these regulations, which were shared in last month’s newsletter.

Lastly I am grateful to all our neighbors, who make Fox Point a truly special place to live.  Our next HOA Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 15 2026 at 7pm at the Pool. We will be welcoming Bill Kennedy, the original developer of the Fox Point subdivision, for an informal meet-n-greet at 6pm prior to the meeting.  Join us if you can!

Hello neighbors – Thank you for your attention to this year’s assessments. The Association is in a strong financial position and ready to commence and continue with budgeted projects across the neighborhood including several beautification and safety initiatives, as well as maintaining our assets for all of the summer activities at the pool and tennis courts.

Social Report

Hello Summer!  We have a lot of fun summer staple events in the pipeline this year: Movie on the Tennis Court, Camp Out, Venetian Night and 4th of July games to name a few! Please follow the Instagram account (and DM me to ensure I accept the follow) and/or sign-up to receive the social emails (email social@foxpoint.org to be added) to ensure you are kept up to date on all the events!

Congratulations, Seniors!

I hope you all were able to watch the senior car parade this year – what a fun way to celebrate our seniors!  Thank you to Kristin, Stacy and Rachel for spearheading this year’s event!

Congratulations to our FP seniors!

FP Pool Mahjong Club

I’m very excited to announce that we will be hosting a Mahjong open play at the pool on Tuesday’s from 5:30pm – 7:30pm, starting on June 2nd.  All levels welcome, but please come with some foundational knowledge (I recommend watching the OMM YouTube videos!).  I will have a sign-up sheet for each week posted at the pool (yes, going old style).  Please sign-up if you plan on attending so that I can try to ensure we have enough sets – but if you forget to sign up, please still come!

Committee Sign Up

Interested in running the Fox Point Golf Outing this year? Please consider signing up to run this great event!  This is one of the last events that I still need a volunteer to coordinate.  A huge thank you to everyone who had already signed up for a committee! I can’t do this without you! Please sign up HERE.

Fox Point Merch

It’s cold out there!  Need a new sweatshirt? We have partnered with The Imprintery for Fox Point spiritwear.  There is no deadline for ordering spiritware and you can place your order at any time for delivery or free local pickup at their location in town.  The direct link to our spiritwear page can be found here.

How it all began – and became one of the best neighborhoods to live in!

Bill Kennedy of Kennedy Homes, will be sharing with us some Fox Point history on Monday, June 15th. Join us for a casual conversation from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the pool with light refreshments. The HOA June Board meeting follows at 7:00 pm.  Hope to see you there!

I also want to piggy back on Mike Moran’s messages from the Village President regarding the BUILD Act (HB 5626). This proposal would override local zoning and require municipalities like Barrington to allow multi-family housing on nearly every residential lot. This means that the lot next door to you could be converted into a 6- to 8- unit dwelling at any time by simply obtaining a building permit. The character of Barrington would be greatly affected should this bill pass and would place tremendous strain on parking, infrastructure and our schools. Please see here for more information.

Your voice is important. Please ask our state legislators to oppose HB 5626. Contact information is:

Congressman Mike Quigley

Senator Tammy Duckworth

Senator Dick Durbin

Lake Report

Calling all volunteers!!! The Lake committee needs your help this summer! We are looking for volunteers to help with several events at the lake.  The only way we can make these events special is with your help!

The annual fishing derby will be in July again this year. Look for a date in the next newsletter. We need several volunteers who are interested in helping coordinate events and assist in weigh-ins, prize duty, and registration. If you would like to volunteer a few hours of time to help with a great event, please reach out to lake@foxpoint.org. Teen volunteers are welcome as well.

Boat owners who wish to stay on the rack please reach out to lake@foxpoint.org if you have not done so already. Thanks to those who have responded. I have you on the list. Reminder on rules at the boat rack:

  • All boats are to remain locked when on the rack.
  • The rack consists of private boats. Please tell your children or teens to request permission before using a neighbor’s boat.
  • When finished with your boats, please return them to the rack. Do not leave your boat on the shore. Boats left on the shore will be moved to the end of the rack. Boats moved multiple times by the committee are subject to loss of boat rack spot without refund.

Lake health is excellent and clarity is outstanding. Fishing has been excellent with anglers landing striped bass, northern pike, largemouth bass, panfish of all varieties, channel catfish, and carp.

Carp removal was tremendously successful this year with Lake County shocking and removing an estimated  2000 lbs. of carp from the lake. They will return as part of a 3-year lake survey for the next spring for further mitigation, in conjunction with the installation of the carp barrier at the dam this year. This partnership with the county is a tremendous cost savings to the HOA and we are getting an estimated 75% discount as a result!

If you would like to join the lake committee, please contact the lake chair at the email listed above. If you are interested in participating in the committee meetings please join the Google Meet below. All are welcome! Lake committee meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month at 8 pm via Google Meet.

It’s official, the pool is OPEN, so it must be summer! As we head into the summer season, we wanted to share several recent accomplishments, ongoing projects, and important reminders for all residents.

Accomplishments / Completed Projects

  • New pool vacuum and acid pumps were successfully installed prior to opening day
  • Diving board re-epoxied with improved grip coating
  • Water clarity and pool temperature adjusted appropriately
  • Awning covers installed
  • Pool deck and locker rooms power washed
  • Awning rentals are now open
Please note blackout weekends include Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends
  • Swim lesson registration is now open

Additional Notes

  • Baby Pool Cleanliness: To maintain cleanliness standards, the baby pool will be closed during morning swim practice so lifeguards can complete cleaning and maintenance before the pool officially opens.
  • Locker Room Cleaning: A deep cleaning of the locker rooms is scheduled for May 29 and will continue throughout the summer.
  • Locker Room Floor Drainage Correction: We are currently obtaining quotes for releveling portions of the locker room floors to improve drainage.
  • Outstanding Guest Fees: Please check your email for any unpaid fee notifications sent through Omnify. Prompt payment helps avoid interruptions to pool access.

Pool Hours & Key Information

Please refer to the posted pool calendar and recent email communications for specific operating days, swim lesson schedules, and pool hours throughout the season.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work to keep the pool facilities clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone this summer.
