Fox Point Update: May 2026 Edition

  • On April 30, 2026

President’s Letter

By Andrew Schwarz | Email

Several preparations are underway to ensure a fun summer around the neighborhood!

The pool is getting prepped.  Swim team sign-ups are open.  Tennis programs are ready.  The social calendar is filling up.  The lake is getting stocked.  Seawall plans are progressing.  Lawns are freshly mowed.  How lucky we are!  Thank you to an engaged and active Board of Directors for your continued dedication to keep our community thriving.

Core to our community, though, is the safety for all residents – especially our children.  From the streets to our pool, park, or lake, the Board encourages a family-mindset of behaving with responsibility, respect, and regard to the well-being of yourself and others.  With this in mind, please see an important update below from our Safety chair, Greg Salter, on village laws regarding the usage of e-bikes and e-scooters.

Our next HOA Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 18 2026 at 7pm at the Village Church. As always, we welcome ideas, suggestions, and feedback.  Until then, take care.

The rain did not keep us away this Easter! The Easter Egg hunt was very well attended despite the chilly temperatures and mist situation.  We had over 100 children present and my wonderful committee stuffed 2180 eggs! Big thank you to Sarah Giunchedi for organizing and the lovely group that helped stuff the eggs.

Senior Car Parade

Calling all graduating seniors! The senior car parade is scheduled for Thursday, May 28th! If you would like to participate in the parade, plan on meeting at the pool house (cars already decorated!) for pictures at 7:00 pm.  The parade will start promptly at 7:30 pm and will follow the same route as last year – both North and South sides.

You do not need to sign up to participate- but in case we need to send any direct communication to parade participants, please fill out our Google Form HERE.

Committee Sign Up

Interested in running the Fox Point Golf Outing this year? Please consider signing up to run this great event!  This is one of the last events that I still need a volunteer to coordinate.  A huge thank you to everyone who had already signed up for a committee! If you have been watching Wheel of Fortune this week, you may have seen a familiar face. Our very own Lynnette Farmer was a contestant, and as of this writing, won her first game and onto her second!

From Lynnette:

“Going on Wheel of Fortune was such a fun experience! I auditioned in February 2025 at the Chicago Auto Show and then had a follow-up Zoom tryout two months later. In February 2026, I received the exciting news that I’d be appearing on the show in mid-March.

I went into it simply hoping to have fun and it absolutely delivered. It’s an experience I’ll never forget. Ryan, Vanna, and everyone involved with the show were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made it even more special.

I would absolutely encourage others to try out. You never know when you might get the chance to spin the wheel!”

Lynnette, you are a celebrity in my eyes! Congratulations!

We are actively proceeding with the work related to the boat dock. The board recently approved to engage the engineering firm Hey & Associates to begin the planning process for the Seawall project, which includes topographic survey, wetland investigation, geotechnical investigation, and design/construction documents. Given the recent floods with this wet spring, this project remains a top priority for the Board..  We have also updated the Architecture & Design Guidelines page on our website to make the process more clear and straightforward. Please review it in advance if you are planning any exterior work.  Please check it out here: Architecture & Design Guidelines

Safety & Welfare Report

By Greg Salter | Email

With the warmer weather finally here, it has been wonderful to see so many families out enjoying our streets. However, with this increase in activity, we’ve also had several reports of “near-miss” situations involving young children on e-scooters, e-bikes, and e-motorcycles.

While these devices are popular, there is significant confusion regarding where they can be used and who can legally operate them. Our streets fall under the jurisdiction of the Village of Barrington, and they recently shared a critical update in their newsletter that we should all be aware of:

“As the weather warms up, the Village is thrilled to see more people walking and biking around town. As a reminder, under current state law, the use of low-speed e-scooters on any public rights-of-way within the Village remains illegal. Likewise, the use of other e-mobility devices, such as e-bikes and gas bikes, within certain public rights-of-way, including sidewalks, remains illegal. The use of many of these e-mobility devices is also restricted by age. Low-speed gas bikes and Class 3 low-speed e-bikes may only be used by people who are at least 16 years old.“

The Village is closely monitoring state legislation for future updates, but for now, the rules above are in effect to ensure the safety of every resident. If you see reckless or dangerous operation of any e-mobility device, the Village encourages residents to call 911 so the police department can address the situation immediately.

On a personal level, I truly appreciate how much everyone in this community looks out for one another. Thank you for your help in keeping our streets safe and for always keeping an extra eye out on the roads!

Lake Report

Last chance to retain your boat rack spot for 2026! Thank you to the many who have emailed already. To those who have not, please email lake@foxpoint.org your name and spot number and a brief description of your boat. Fees will be assessed and sent out via email later in the spring.

Carp removal will be conducted by the Lake County Health Department this spring as part of a multiyear carp mitigation project. Carp removal will provide data for the health department to further study carp populations in lake county. This project represents a substantial cost savings to the Association and up to a 65% cost savings vs budget.

Other spring wildlife control measures have been completed as well on the lake.

Ongoing water management continues this spring and summer. The lake committee is looking for volunteers on the water to run power for the small fountain in the south side pond and a few aerators on the point area. If you have an outlet near the water that can be used for aeration, please contact lake@foxpoint.org. The HOA is willing to work with homeowners on the cost to power the aeration possibly as well.

Pool Report

By Adam Clementi | Email

The pool has been power washed and prepped for filling, new acid pumps installed, new pool vacuum delivered, locker rooms have been thoroughly cleaned, and spring plumbing maintenance has been completed. Additional general repairs and continued cleaning efforts will take place throughout the month to ensure everything is ready for opening.

Swim lessons are now open for signup on the Omnify site for children ages 3–6. If your child is age 7 or older, we encourage you to consider joining the Fox Point Swim Team (registration is still open) – we have excellent coaches and great neighborhood participation!

Awning rentals will open on May 1.
      > Please note that we will not be accepting reservations for Memorial Day weekend or 4th of July weekend as these are historically widely used times for all.

We also want to make residents aware that there are a number of outstanding payments—primarily for guest passes—from the 2025 season. Billing reminders will be emailed in the coming week (some residents may receive multiple). We ask that you please take a moment to bring your account into good standing. Outstanding balances from before 2025 will be forgiven.

If you are interested in being a part of the Pool Committee, please email me. This is less a talking committee as it is an action committee. There are many pool tasks we do not use HOA funds for and many hands make for light(er) work.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out at pool@foxpoint.org with questions, issues or comments.
