Fox Point Update: October 2025 Edition

  • On October 1, 2025

President’s Letter

By Jeana Garms | Email

Happy fall Fox Point! October is easily one of my favorite months of the year – from fall fests and apple orchards to football and Halloween. Preparations are already underway for what’s become a favorite tradition in our household since moving to Fox Point – the boys ‘Boo’ing’ their friends with bags of candy. We continue to have a steady stream of neighborhood activity, and October is no exception with both the Fox Point Progressive dinner and the annual Fox Point golf outing.

For those participating, this year the Village has set Halloween Trick-or-Treating to take place on Friday, October 31st from 3pm to 7pm. Reminder – if you plan to pass out candy, please have your porch light on as a signal to trick-or-treaters, if you do not plan to participate, we advise you to keep your porch light off.

And reminder, with all the families and kids out and about – please be extremely careful when driving. Happy Halloween everyone!

Architecture Report

In late September, we submitted a grant application to the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission to request funding assistance for the seawall project.

We’ve had several productive discussions recently with our lake engineer, Hey & Associates, who led the grant submittal process with my partnership. We’ve also received three valuable Letters of Support for the installation from the Village of Barrington, Citizens for Conservation, and the Flint & Spring Creek Watersheds Partnership. Thank you to these important community partners and to Bob Lee for his help with socialization.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for a successful grant review as we target an install as soon as possible.

Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions on this project or on the HOA Architecture Review process if you are planning an exterior alteration. Thanks!

As the weather cools down, please remember to plan to store your boats for the winter. If you have a boat on the rack, please make sure it is in the correct spot and locked away. Please make sure there is no residual water left in the boats on the rack, since freeze damage may occur in the fall and the winter.

The aerators are going to be taken in shortly and stored for the winter.. Treatment will continue through October for the water quality. On Mondays you may continue to see our vendor out on the water spraying and or testing the water.

It was a rough middle summer period given the extremely hot and dry 2 months we had, without inflow or outflow of the lake. As fall rains pick up we should notice an increase in the quality of the water. We are discussing next year’s plans for vegetation management with the vendors as well.

Despite losing a few fish this summer due to the heat, we are seeing many smaller baitfish and fingerlings along the shores which is a fantastic sign for fishing. As the water cools, fishing should continue to pick up as well.

For those interested, please jump on the lake committee meeting, listed below. All are encouraged to join to discuss any current or future lake projects.

Progress continues as we prepare the pool for the off-season.  Soon the blue awnings will be put away until next summer.  Please take a moment to share your feedback and thoughts through the annual pool survey.  We will work with our pool management company to partner for another year of service.  Your input matters.

Tennis Report

The 2025 Pickleball Tournament is still going strong with 8 teams (out of 20) remaining! Reigning champs, Team Tabak/Frommeyer, have secured their place in the finals and will face off against the winner of the loser’s bracket. I will post the date and time of the final match on FP’s Instagram so everyone can come cheer them on!

Team Feit vs. Team Lunt

Please continue to enjoy the tennis and pickleball courts into the fall! The nets will stay up until late October/early November, depending on the weather. I will make an announcement via Instagram and Nextdoor when they are coming down.

A few court reminders:

  1. There is currently no reservation system for the tennis and pickleball courts. Please limit play to one hour if others are waiting.
  2. No bicycles, scooters, roller blades, skateboards, etc. are allowed on the courts.
