President’s Letter

School is back in session! If you are engaging in the same life stage as my family with young humans, I hope you are enjoying the ability to take a Zoom meeting without kids dancing in the background as much as I am.
And on that note – I want to extend a huge thank you to our South Side families who opened their homes for what’s become an annual tradition of the neighborhood children gathering on the first day of school for donuts, pictures, and walking to school together. And to our South Side residents at large for your patience during this time. Speaking from my own experience, this is such a welcomed opportunity to shake off the first day jitters, particularly for our youngest school-age residents, and start the new school year on a high note.
When my family moved to Barrington four years ago we chose Fox Point for its reputation as a family-friendly community that was a great place to raise children. I remember as we drove in to look at what became our present home, counting the number of trampolines, basketball hoops, and playsets in the yards – an indicator of the number of families raising children who lived here and a proof point of the ability for kids to be kids and enjoy their surroundings.
It’s these proof points and unofficial traditions, coupled with our amenities and planned community events such as the Camp Out (which was fantastic by the way – kudos to the planning team!) that makes Fox Point a desirable place to live year after year. So cheers to all of our neighbors for continuing to foster this community and I look forward to seeing you throughout the neighborhood and at our upcoming events.
Treasurer Report

Thank you to our Social Chair and to all those that take on the extra work and put in the time to plan and execute our awesome neighborhood events. We appreciate you! Please remember to submit any expense reimbursement requests with your receipts and a completed Reimbursement Request Form for more efficient tracking. LINKED HERE
Additionally, we will begin the budgeting process for 2026 and beyond. As in years past, the treasurer will be working with board members and the finance committee to build a comprehensive plan that meets the HOA’s fiscal goals and allows our community to thrive. I will keep the neighborhood informed as the process moves along during the fourth quarter.

I hope you all were able to attend this year’s Camp Out, it was a huge success with over 150 neighbors in attendance! I’m tempted to say I will try camping next year 🙂 Thank you to Jordan Linville and Dan Pohl for organizing and bringing this event back to life. We have two great events coming up in October, the progressive dinner and the golf outing. Please see the below for details, hope to see you there!
Progressive Dinner
The progressive dinner will be held this year on Saturday, October 11th. When signing up for the event, please consider volunteering to be a host house. We will also need a volunteer or two (or three or four) to host the appetizer and dessert portion of the night. Please reach out if you have any questions around what it looks like to be a host house, reminder that all the food is catered and will be dropped off at your doorstep! Couldn’t be easier!
- Where: Fox Point Neighborhood
- When: Saturday, October 11th; 5-10pm
- Cost: $55 per person
Details:
The night begins with appetizers at one Fox Point home, followed by dinner at various homes in smaller groups. The event concludes with dessert and an after party with the larger group at a single home.
Tentative schedule is 5:00-6:00pm apps and cocktails with the larger group, migrate to dinner homes in smaller groups 6:30-8:00, and then back with the larger group from 8:30-10:00 for dessert, coffee, and a nightcap.
Appetizers through dessert will be catered with drinks also included in the ticket price.

The FP Board and Welcome committee greeted about 10 new families last month for the Homeowner’s Welcome party at the pool. Neighbors old and new were immediately making connections and sharing contact information. Thanks to all that attended and we look forward to seeing everyone at upcoming events!

The Board has opted to move forward with a county grant application for the seawall.
Later this month, applications for grants from the Lake County Stormwater Management Board are due. Our seawall installation at the Boat Landings is a good candidate for this grant, a similar approach that we’ve taken for some creek shoreline work a few years ago. We have engaged our Lake Engineering firm, Hey & Associates to advance our approach and environmental data to manage the grant application. This supplementary work will be required for full permit approval, as we learned in a meeting with the Village of Barrington in June. If the grant is successful, the county may share up to 50% of project costs. With this direction we are targeting a 2026 install.
I am eager to continue working on this project to get our important common area near the lake higher and drier!

Hello neighbors,
Lake season is winding down and fall is coming. Please remember to keep boats on the rack organized headed into the offseason. If you are still looking for a boat slot, please contact the lake committee at lake@foxpoint.org
The lake clarity and water quality had a rough month of July due to the extremely hot temps along with no rainfall resulting in lake temps rising and algae blooming once the water hit the mid 80s. We also experienced a small fish kill as a result, but damage was far less than we have seen in these events in the past. Discussion on future lake management is always ongoing between the maintenance vendors and lake committee. If you have questions or concerns, the meeting is a great chance to discuss at length. See below for details.
With the cooler temps we are seeing a rebound in water quality and a decrease in weed growth. This should continue into the fall.
If you would like to join the lake committee, we meet online on the second Monday of each month.. All are welcome so please tune in. We discuss all future plans and current issues regarding the lake. Hope to see you there!
