Fox Point Update: November 2025 Edition

  • On October 30, 2025

President’s Letter

By Jeana Garms | Email

It’s hard to believe we are already in November! As with each passing year, it feels like they’re moving faster and faster. As we come up on the end of 2025, the Fox Point Board is busy preparing 2026 budgets. One more important budget review with our Finance Committee, which is made up of former FP leaders and treasurers, and we will be ready to present our findings in the December newsletter.

Thank you to our board members and the committees for the continued work and support that make Fox Point the fantastic place to live that it is.

Elections for the 2026 Fox Point Board are now underway. If you are interested in participating in the election, please contact our nominating chair Taylor Shanfeld (tennis@foxpoint.org) for information regarding open positions.

October saw two great annual events – the Fox Point Progressive Dinner and the Fox Point Golf Outing.

A big thank you to our planning committees for these great events and to all those who participated. And a special thank you to our host houses for the Progressive Dinner – without you this fantastic event could not happen.

Looking ahead, keep on the lookout for Santa Visit dates, which will be sent once finalized.

Would you like to join the illustrious FOX POINT CLEAN TEAM? They are looking for people to help wash clothes for the Barrington Giving Day. Bags of laundry would be delivered to individuals’ homes and picked up after they are washed. There is usually about five days between dropping off the laundry and picking it up. The busiest time for the clean team is during November and the first part of December. This is an excellent way to volunteer to help families in our 220 school district. For those willing to volunteer, please contact Bob or Anne Lee at Photobylee@mac.com.

If you would like to get involved with Giving Day in other ways, please visit their website – barringtongivingday.org. Thank you!

Lake Report

By Steve Kipferl| Email

Last call to claim -or- get rid of your boats! Thanks to those who registered boats with the lake committee. For those still looking to claim a spot please email Lake@foxpoint.org. Any boats unregistered or unclaimed will be removed November 15th or later.

Schools of baby fish are splashing along the shoreline eating all the remaining late summer vegetation. These are all the juvenile fish, of different species, growing and thriving! This is a fantastic sign for lake health and the future fish population. Fishing has been great this year on the lake with both panfish, several species of bass, and a few small northern pike.

Water clarity is increasing nicely as the temperatures cool down from a very warm summer.

Lake Committee meetings are held the second Monday of the month on Google Meet. Please drop in if you would like to know more about the lake and hear about ongoing projects.

Tennis Report

By Taylor Shanfeld | Email

Congratulations to Team Tabak/Frommeyer for their second consecutive victory in the FP Pickleball tournament! They came out on top in a great match against Team Felts. Thank you to all 20 teams who participated this year. Many have shared how enjoyable it was to meet new faces as well as catch up with longtime neighbors.

2025 FP Pickleball Tournament Champions David Tabak and Maribeth Frommeyer

2025 FP Pickleball Finals: Nick Felts, David Tabak, Maribeth Frommeyer, and Pattie Felts

Please note that the tennis nets and court wind screens will be taken down and stored away the second week of November. The pickleball nets will also be dismantled and stored inside for the winter.  The renovated tennis courts will be 8 years old next year and will benefit from some proactive maintenance, including surface repairs and a thorough cleaning prior to the beginning of the season. I look forward to seeing everyone on the courts next spring!
