President’s Letter
By Bill Graff | Email
As the first leaves are dropping off our maple tree, I am sorry to say, the summer is ending, UGH! With that said, I am pleased that FP had such a nice summer on its whole campus. Boats in the lake, kids and families and seniors at the pool, lots of good tans, and so much activity on the courts – the neighborhood was ablaze with activity this summer, yeah! All this fun comes through the good work of your volunteer board, and their committees, which head up all this FUN. This is THE ONLY WAY FOX POINT WORKS!!
That said, I cannot stress enough the value of volunteerism around the activities we offer in the neighborhood! For example; our long-standing Santa Visits, needs a chairperson and team to get it done this year! We certainly do not want to be a GRINCH and miss out on this holiday tradition!! I know, Christmas talk already, but it will be here before we know it, so let’s just plan it out now with a good committee. So, all you Santa’s helpers who want that experience in your home, I’m asking for volunteers. See our social chair Jeana’s column for guidance on helping with this activity. Before Christmas, there are many other fun activities like the Golf Tourney and Progressive Dinner that will spotlight our fall social roster. So be sure to join and HELP with the fun!
Lastly, I want to share the appreciation of the pool team headed by Criss, and the Courts headed by Taylor, and the Lake headed by Steve, for their constant and consistent help with these three assets. Bravo to another fun summer year on the Fox Point campus! Enjoy these first days of school and the cooler temps!

2024 Directories have been printed and are available up at the pool. If you have not obtained a directory by the end of the pool season, it will remain available in the box outside the pool house. We hope to include email addresses in future directories, so please email me that information at your convenience. Thank you!
Treasurer Reports
By Kyle Powal | Email
As Fall approaches, that means budget season is upon us. I will be working closely with all current members of the board to build a comprehensive budget. We will be reviewing past expenses, future estimates, and the reserve analysis conducted two years ago as our roadmap. As always, we will partner with the finance committee to ensure we are in line with the HOA’s short and long-term goals. A few long-term capital expenditures, which have been previously accounted for, include the wooden fence along Lake Cook Rd as well as a playground refresh. The budget process stretches over a number of months and I will keep everyone updated throughout the development.

Civics

The Board has decided not to hold the Fox Point Garage Sale this year due to low participation in the past. Feel free to contact me by email with any suggestions on how to improve and bring back the event.
Volunteering in Fox Point and the Barrington area makes our neighborhood and community a better place to live. September is a great time to look at your schedule and see if you have a couple of hours per week, or per month, to share your talents and meet new people. The Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC), founded by FP’ers Bob Lee and Diane Kerekes, matches volunteers with over 90 non-profit organizations. Check out the opportunities at thebavc.org!
Common Grounds
By JASON EHLERT | Email
The busy season for common grounds has started to wind down. I am still in the process of finalizing plans for the 2025 Lake Cook Rd. fence replacement project which should be complete by early October. This will be an exciting opportunity for homeowners with these existing property lines to have a new and improved privacy fence installed by the HOA. We will be communicating the required instructions for those homeowners once the project begins to move forward. There are a few outstanding projects that I am working on to help improve the landscaping around the pool and entrances. Minor tree work and landscaping replacement/removal are on the books in those locations in the next few weeks.
As always, please continue to send feedback regarding common ground space to grounds@foxpoint.org. Thank you!
Architecture Report
By Andrew Schwarz | Email
Just a few minor updates and reminders from the Architecture desk:
First, I am in the process of digitalizing our HOA architecture approval process and hope to have a new process in place in 2025. Thanks to all the neighbors who have consulted with the Board on exterior alteration projects. Our Good Neighbor and Architectural Guidelines will be updated in conjunction with this workstream.
Second, the Boat Landings seawall process is in the middle of its permitting process, and our vendor expects to have permits complete this fall. Our planned installation is in late fall, but timing is dependent on permitting speed and other factors.
Reach out with questions!
Safety and Welfare Report

It is hard to believe that school is already underway! As we get back into the swing of the school year, please note that student drop offs and pickups are still NOT permitted on Oak Ridge Circle between 7:30 am – 9:30 am and 2:15 pm – 4:15 pm. There are a lot of young students walking and biking to school that utilize the path from Fox Point to Lines & Station, so let’s make sure we are keeping their trips to and from school as safe as possible.

Pool Report
By Criss Chang | Email
It’s hard to believe that with Labor Day on September 2nd, the pool season will close until next summer. Master’s swim will conclude on Saturday, August 31st. Thank you to all the lifeguards and operations staff with Chicagoland Pool Management. They were integral in keeping our pool open and our families safe. We intend to send out a feedback survey within the next month to take input from the neighborhood and hear your thoughts and opinions on the 2024 pool season.
Tennis Report
By Taylor Shanfeld | Email
It’s fantastic to see the courts buzzing with activity lately!
A big shout-out to the 16 teams who joined our mixed doubles pickleball tournament. We hope you enjoyed your first match, even if you faced defeat like Steve and I did against Team Stetson. Round 2 is now in full swing. A special thanks to Jordan Linville for organizing.
The broken net on the north side pickleball court has been fixed. If you notice any other issues with the nets or courts, please let me know via email.
A few court reminders:
- There is currently no reservation system for the tennis and pickleball courts. Please limit play to one hour if others are waiting.
- No bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards, etc. are allowed on the courts. Please remind your kids of this rule.
