President’s Letter

Welcome to summer! Seems like FP is up and running with its crazy, busy, and active summer schedule in full swing! From the pool and tennis activities, as well as, the boats and fishing on Lake Louise, the neighborhood is ablaze with good summer energy. Now that the road work is about done, just in time for more lake walks, the FP streets will be even busier and safer. Be sure to check out the social calendar for the various updates so you won’t miss out on the fun! Also, be sure to check out the Dolphin Home Swim meets – those are never dull, and you may see another Olympic athlete in our midst! To the “New Neighbors” who I met at the Lemonade at the Pool, I invite each of you to join us this summer in all the action and get to know even more of your neighbors. Enjoy this issue of the newsletter and Happy 4th of July!

Common Grounds
By Jason Ehlert | Email
The official start of the summer season is here for common grounds. There are a few updates I’d like to share with our neighborhood. There are several projects this year that I’m in the planning and execution stages to improve the neighborhood aesthetic. At the end of June, we will be installing additional landscaping around the newly installed grill pad. The goal is to add additional screening from the street while creating a complete natural boundary around the entirety of the pool grounds. I’m also working on eliminating the dead tree near the pool and working with several vendors to have a flagpole installed at the pool. We are also looking to remove dead plants that did not survive the monument wall project last year shortly.
The Lake Cook Road fence replacement project is starting to move forward in the planning stages. I’ve received a bid for replacement options. The plan is to have this replaced at some point in 2025. A letter with instructions for homeowners with this property line will be coming within the next few weeks so be on the lookout if this applies to your property. This is a friendly reminder that trees hanging on the fence and overgrowth is the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain.
I spoke at length at how much I’ve appreciated multiple neighbors coming forward with common grounds concerns. This helps me prioritize and see unique issues that I may have missed. Please continue to contact me directly at grounds@foxpoint.org for any concerns. Thank you!

As a reminder, all permanent exterior alterations should be sent to the Fox Point Board for review and approval. Thank you to the dozens of homeowners who follow this process each year. Over the next few months, I intend to refresh the current guidance and requirements on the website based on recent projects and Village code adjustments.
Permitting for the steel seawall at the Boat Landings is underway and is expected to be completed this summer. If all goes according to plan, the seawall should be in-place before the end of the year. This will help raise the elevation of the immediate shoreline in that area to decrease flooding and make the area more usable and aesthetically pleasing.

It is always great to see Fox Pointers out walking, jogging, and biking throughout the neighborhood. As a reminder, walkers and joggers should be going against the flow of traffic (be on the left side of the road) and bikers should be going with the flow of traffic (on the right side of the road). We ask that bicyclists please use standard arm signals to make their movements more predictable to passing vehicles.

The annual fishing derby will occur on July 20th, from 8am to 12pm. There will be 2 classes of prizes. One prize for biggest carp, and one prize for longest bass by length.
If you wish to participate in the bass portion, please stop by after 8am, grab a sticker from the registration host located at the boat docks. Bass will be catch and release, and prizes will be awarded by photos at weight in. Participants are instructed to photograph the bass next to their derby sticker, then release the bass. Photos will be reviewed at noon before prizes are awarded. If you are fishing for carp, simply bring the carp to the docks to weigh in at noon.
We need several volunteers who are interested to help coordinate events, assist in weigh ins, prize duty, and registration. If you would like to volunteer a few hours of time to help with a great event please reach out to lake@foxpoint.org. Teen volunteers are welcome as well.
The boat reorg will be completed by the end of July. If you still need to register your boat contact the lake chair via email below. We will be removing boats that have not been accounted for off of the rack. Owners who wish to stay on the rack please reach out to lake@foxpoint.org if you have not done so already. Thanks to those who have responded. I have you on the list. We are still waiting on quite a few responses. Boats that have not been accounted for will be removed from the rack and owners will have until JULY 1 to dispose of the boats or contact lake@foxpoint.org to register. The remaining unregistered boats after July 1 are going to be disposed of section by section. The payment system is not yet active. Watch for updates on payment in the next newsletter.
Reminder on rules at the boat rack:
- All boats are to remain locked when on the rack.
- The rack consists of private boats. Please tell your children or teens to request permission before using a neighbor’s boat.
- When finished with your boats, please return them to the rack. Do not leave your boat on the shore. Boats left on the shore will be moved to the end of the rack. Boats moved multiple times by the committee are subject to loss of boat rack spot without refund.
Lake health is excellent. The lake is as clean as it has been in the last 15-20 years. Regular microalgae blooms are present and will continue through the summer. These are a part of every lakes cycle. Chemical treatments are ongoing weekly.
Fishing has been excellent with anglers landing striped bass, northern pike, largemouth bass, panfish of all varieties, channel catfish and carp.
If you would like to join the lake committee please contact the lake chair at the email listed above. If you are interested in participating in the committee meetings please join the google meet below. All are welcome! Lake committee meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month at 8pm via google meet.
