Fox Point Update: June 2024 Edition
- On June 3, 2024
President’s Letter
By Bill Graff | Email
Welcome to Summer!!! As you can see, we are open for business! The pool is ready to go, the courts are busy, and the lake is hopping, now sans the carp, let the fishing begin! None of this would happen if it were not for the committed board members, and their various committees, all working in one direction, to keep FP the best neighborhood in Barrington. In that same direction, I need to ask for continued help from volunteers on behalf of our summer social calendar and keep it moving forward. We have had several volunteers come to help with planning so many of our events this year, but we still have a few that need your help. Specifically, the Camp Out, 4th of July Pool Games, and Movie Nights on the Tennis Courts still need some help to plan, so think about jumping in and helping to plan these events to make Summer 2024 the best! Lots is going on in other areas of the neighborhood, so be sure to look at the board reports in this newsletter for those important updates. Enjoy Memorial Day and here is to have a fun summer for us all!

Architecture Report
By Andrew Schwarz | Email
In May, our HOA went under contract with an experienced vendor to install a steel seawall at our community shoreline.
Over the next several weeks, our installer will be engaging the appropriate regulatory bodies to acquire permits for the work. The Board will be engaged in this process and has aligned with our vendor to install the seawall at the highest possible elevation given all available and discernable data. The primary goal of this work is to elevate the land, reduce flooding, and increase the comfort/usability of the shoreline.
There will be two sections of seawall; one from the spillway to the north end of the boat access, then a smaller ~10ft section ~ from the boat access to the end of the lot on the south. Following the completion of the seawall, the land will be filled and graded to match the existing area. The current asphalt boat access ramp is expected to be replaced and enhanced when the Board elects to remove and/or replace the existing access at the Boat Landings area. At this time there are no further planned improvements to this area. To remain in the loop on any long-term plans to revitalize this area, please add your contact info here.
Thank you to the many homeowners who have followed the HOA Architectural approval process this spring. As always, please ensure you are communicating with your neighbors on any planned alterations to the exterior of your home and reach out if you have questions on whether your project must be reviewed by the Board. Enjoy the start to your summer!
Lake Report
By Steven Kipferl | Email
Calling all volunteers!!! The Lake committee needs your help this summer! We are looking for volunteers to help with several events at the lake. The only way we can make these events special is with your help!
The annual fishing derby has been moved to July this year. The date will be announced shortly and appear in the July newsletter as well. We need several volunteers who are interested in helping coordinate events and assist in weigh-ins, prize duty, and registration. If you would like to volunteer a few hours of time to help with a great event, please reach out to lake@foxpoint.org. Teen volunteers are welcome as well.
The boat rack will be made digital this year for the first time ever! In the May meeting, the HOA board approved the use of the Omnify system for tracking and payment. Omnify payment should be sent out next week via email. If you have registered please watch for the email from Omnify. We need volunteers who are willing and able to help move old boats off the rack. If interested, contact the lake chair via the email below. We will be removing boats that have not been accounted for off of the rack. Owners who wish to stay on the rack please reach out to lake@foxpoint.org if you have not done so already. Thanks to those who have responded. I have you on the list. We are still waiting on quite a few responses. Boats that have not been accounted for will be removed from the rack and owners will have until JULY 1 to dispose of the boats or contact lake@foxpoint.org to register. The remaining boats after July 1 are going to be disposed of or given away.
Reminder on rules at the boat rack:
- All boats are to remain locked when on the rack.
- The rack consists of private boats. Please tell your children or teens to request permission before using a neighbor’s boat.
- When finished with your boats, please return them to the rack. Do not leave your boat on the shore. Boats left on the shore will be moved to the end of the rack. Boats moved multiple times by the committee are subject to loss of boat rack spot without refund.
Lake health is excellent and all levels are within swimmable levels. The lake is as clean as it has been in the last 15-20 years. Come and check it out!
Fishing has been excellent with anglers landing striped bass, northern pike, largemouth bass, panfish of all varieties, channel catfish, and carp.
Carp removal was tremendously successful this year with Lake County shocking and removing an estimated 4500 lbs. of carp from the lake. They will return as part of a 3-year lake survey for the next two springs for further mitigation, in conjunction with the installation of the carp barrier at the dam this fall. This partnership with the county is a tremendous cost savings to the HOA and we are getting an estimated 75% discount as a result!
If you would like to join the lake committee, please contact the lake chair at the email listed above. If you are interested in participating in the committee meetings please join the Google Meet below. All are welcome! Lake committee meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month at 8 pm via Google Meet.

Pool Report
By Chris Chang | Email

Pool Management and Rules
This summer we have a new pool management company running our daily operations. They have agreed to follow the Fox Point Pool rules and guidelines. You can find a copy of the 2024 pool rules and guidelines here.
There is one change from last year, which involves the requirement for all people in the pool, adults and children, to exit the pool during hourly breaks. The change is due to how the Fair Housing Act of 1988 has been interpreted by the courts in recent years to prevent discrimination against children for any reason except for safety. HOAs are governed by the Fair Housing Act of 1988 and Courts have ruled that prohibiting minors age 14 or older is not a proper safety rule. Therefore, we have updated our rules and procedures to be in compliance with federal laws and the Court’s interpretation of the law.
Omnify
Omnify is Fox Point’s online resident platform we use to control access to our pool for check-ins and to purchase services. First, set up your profile, only 1 per household/address, and then add your family members (children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, nannies, babysitters) so they can be checked in and not charged the $5 guest fee. NEW THIS YEAR – please add your own selfie photos to your profiles so we can ensure we maintain identity and access to only Fox Point residents. Unsupervised children who are 14 and over or who have passed the swim test are required to have a photo attached to their name in Omnify.
Go to foxpoint.getomnify.com to create or update your profile. From there you will be able to:
- Add family members and your pictures – View Profile
- Reserve an awning – $25 rental fee – Schedules
- Register for child swim lessons – Subscriptions
- Note – guest fees are recorded at check-in and are not purchased in advance
