Welcome to summer!!! We are in full spring in the neighborhood as we open many of the great features in the Fox Point. The summer of 2018 is full of great social events, the opening of the season for the Fox Point pool, the warming of the waters on Lake Louis for boating & fishing, & the opening of our new neighborhood tennis courts. It is going to be a great summer in Fox Point!!!!
The pool is open and ready for action!!! I look forward to seeing to everyone up there on those very hot days and taking advantage of our incredible pool. I also want to remind everyone of a few simply but often forgot about rules for the pool. Please ͞do not͟ bring glass containers in to the pool. If you are bringing items to enjoy at the pool, please make sure they are either plastic or cans……..again…cans… as any breakage near the pool may cause us to have to empty the water from the pool, clean it, and refill it. Our neighborhood has an incredible number of kids now living in Fox Point, which is amazing to see. We want to continue the tradition of having our pool be an incredible safe place for all including our kids. We have an exceptional staff at the pool of very trained & qualified guards. They are there for the safety of our families and our kids but they are not the only safe guard that we have at our pool. Please if you have younger kids, please assist the guards in making sure your children are safe while at the pool. It is very easy to get distracted as an adult at the pool and allow your children the freedom to roam the pool area when they might not be ready for this type of freedom around a large body of water. Please assist us all in insuring that we have another safe and incredible summer at the Fox Point Pool.
For all of you tennis people, we will now have a brand new, state of the art tennis court as we have just invested in the replacement of that long time asset. We also have some great programs set up for this summer for anyone of any age who is interested in learning to play tennis. We have seen an incredible turn around in the past few years as people as starting to really get back involved in the tennis programs in Fox Point. Even if you do not play tennis, I invite you to some of the social events that will take place this summer at the tennis courts. The Lake is open!!!! I invite everyone to grab your boat or ask to borrow your neighbors and journey through the waters of Lake Louis. We have an unbelievable lake that allows for some great sailing, fishing, or simply a quiet sunset cruise around the Lake Louis shorelines. Our lake is truly a beautiful resource if you have a few minutes to paddle or row around it throughout the summer. I highly recommend a cruise in the early evening hours as the sun is setting on the beauty that is Fox Point.
Please be safe, be courteous to your neighbors, drive slowly, pick up after your dogs, and enjoy the many resources that make Fox Point one of the premiere communities in the Chicago area. Happy summer!!!

The new Fox Point Tennis Courts are almost complete! The fence holes were drilled into the new asphalt today and this week the fence will go up and the courts will be painted. The tennis courts are projected to open in early June and the official Fox Point Tennis season opens on June 11th. This entire project will be completed on time and under budget – a big thanks to the Fox Point Tennis Committee and U.S. Tennis Court Construction Company.
First Serve is excited to provide Fox Point with tennis lessons and cardio drills again this summer. Classes will start the week of June 11 and run through the week of August 13 (no classes the week of July 4). This summer we are offering morning and evening cardio tennis classes for adults, as well as lessons for kids ages 4 and up and adult tennis lessons for all levels. Private lessons are also available with the First Serve Pros.
The tennis registration form, information sheet and class schedules for children and adults for both sessions can be found on the Fox Point website under Tennis(https://foxpointorg.wpengine.com/fox-point-tennis-courts/). If you are still interested in registering for tennis at Fox Point this summer please complete the registration form and drop it off to Christine Mickey.
Save the date – July 21 – for the adult Fox Point Tennis Party Cocktails by the Courts. This event is open to tennis players and non-tennis players to showcase our new tennis courts and socialize with your Fox Point Neighbors. Details coming soon!
Also, save the dates for the new Fox Point Round Robin Match Play on Friday nights. The scheduled dates are June 15, July 13, July 27 and August 17. Get a baby-sitter and BYOB to the courts for some fun tennis mixers. The RSVP link and information will go out via Next-door the week of the Round Robins.
We are also currently working on setting the date for the annual Fox Point vs. Biltmore tennis match and dinner party. This was a big hit last summer and we can’t wait to continue this tradition in 2018!
We are looking forward to a great tennis summer at Fox Point on our new tennis courts!

Pool season has finally arrived and the pool is open! Or should I say, it was open, and then closed, but by the time everyone is reading this we should be back open yet again!
I know the biggest question remains, what happened to our beautiful pool! As outlined in my Nextdoor posts in late May, the filtration system had a “valve” issue and as pressure built up, instead of the system blowing, (which would have been extremely costly) it relieved pressure as it was designed to do…. By opening a valve to the pool and releasing all of the matter back into the pool. After 24 hours we were able to diagnose the problem and have it fixed, however the clean up has taken an additional 3-4 days. Again, by the time you read this, I am hoping we are fully operational!
Opening weekend generated some complaints on the condition of the locker rooms. We have addressed the issues with Pool Watch to make they are consistently cleaning throughout each day, but please keep me posted if you notice any additional issues. I will add however, that part of the condition is simply the wear and tear on the facility that acid washes and power washes were unable to clean. As such, we have a committee formed as previously communicated to generate proposals on updating the facility. In fact, at our last board meeting, a motion was approved to put forth some funds toward an architecture firm to help guide us in renovation options within the existing foot print of the pool house structure. We look forward to presenting these options over the next few months via a yet to be determined open house.
As a reminder on a few pool policies, the lifeguards at the front desk will be asking for picture id’s to verify residents. Additionally, for children, they should be asking for home address as verification. Guest fees remain the same as years past at $5/guest. Drinks and food products must be kept 4 feet away from the pool so please no drinking while in the pool or setting drinks/food on the gutter as you enjoy a refreshing dip. And lastly, no GLASS containers are allowed on the pool deck.
The pool hours have been posted on the Fox Point website (https://foxpointorg.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Fox-Point-Pool-Calendar-2018.pdf). For updates throughout the day regarding weather or un-expected closures, please stay tuned via NextDoor.
We look forward to a fun and safe pool season ahead, but as always, please keep me posted on any complaints or praise you feel appropriate!
