President’s Letter

One of the best times of the year in Fox Point is spring!!! The temperatures begin to warm, the beautiful flowers begin to bloom, and most importantly the neighborhood begins to wake up from the long winter as we start to enjoy walking around the neighborhood, the opening of the pool, & everything that our great neighborhood has to offer. It is one of the best times of the year!!!
I encourage everyone to take time to walk the neighborhood and say hello to your neighbors. Whether you just moved into Fox Point or you have been here for years it is always a welcoming sight to meet neighbors as they walk throughout Fox Point. It is one of the things that makes our neighborhood exceptional!!!
We are also getting set for another great season at the pool/tennis courts!!! This year will be slightly different as we will be opening a brand new tennis court on or around Memorial Day as the weather allows. It is another great capital investment in our neighborhood that will last well into the next generation. Our past & current boards have been extremely diligent in our financial planning so that we always have adequate moneys to invest in our neighborhood assets.
As we head into the summer months please remember a few housekeeping things. Please Drive Slowing and with extreme caution as we all will be out walking the streets and meeting our neighbors. In addition we now have dozens if not hundreds of kids now in Fox Point that run around and play at all times of the day. Please try to keep your speeds down to 15-25 MPH at all times and please “Pay Attention while driving.” On the same note, please also be a good neighbor as we begin the summer party & BBQ season. As your guests arrive and park on the streets, please remember that the streets become increasing dangerous as long lines of cars are parked on both sides of the street. Please ask your guests to try to use one side or the other so neighbors and emergency personnel can access the neighborhood safely and without issue.
I hope everyone enjoys a safe and wonderful spring.

The Fox Point Tennis Courts construction started on April 23rd. Pending weather the new tennis courts are scheduled to be completed by Memorial Day weekend. Fingers crossed!! First Serve is excited to provide Fox Point with tennis lessons and cardio drills again this summer. Classes will start the week of June 11 and run through the week of August 13 (no classes the week of July 4). This summer we are offering morning and evening cardio tennis classes for adults, as well as lessons for kids ages 4 and up and adult tennis lessons for all levels.
The Private lesson/small group openings are currently Monday 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM and Wednesday 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. I am also working to get some private time slots on Tuesday afternoons. Please contact Christine Mickey if you would like any of these private lesson slots. Private lesson/small class rates are in the information sheet.
The tennis registration form, information sheet and class schedules for children and adults for both sessions are attached and can be found on the Fox Point website under Tennis. Please submit your registration form by May 25th to Christine Mickey. Classes fill up on a first come, first serve basis. Please save the date – July 21 – for the adult Fox Point Tennis Party Cocktails by the Courts. This event is open to tennis players and non-tennis players to showcase our new tennis courts and socialize with your Fox Point Neighbors. More details to come. Also, save the dates for the new Fox Point Round Robin Match Play on Friday nights. The scheduled dates are June 15, July 13, July 27 and August 17. More details to come.
We are also currently working on setting the date for the annual Fox Point vs. Biltmore tennis match and dinner party. We are looking forward to a great tennis summer at Fox Point on our new tennis courts!
Pool

Spring has finally arrived and the opening of the pool season is just a few weeks away! You have probably noticed a lot of activity around the pool house as we finish all preparations for what we expect to be another busy season!
As we have many new neighbors I feel it appropriate to share a few of the general “rules and policies” in place to create a safe and friendly neighborhood environment. The complete rules and regulations can be found here: https://foxpointorg.wpengine.com/fox-point-pool/
- Guest policy– There is a $5 per person fee per day. A summer pass for “Live in House Guests/Nanny Fees” can be purchased for $50. There is no charge for children under 4 years of age and minor grandchildren of homeowners. Special Observer Guests for family members such as visiting grandparent who wish to watch their family swimmers will be admitted without charge. Observer guests cannot be in swim attire or they will be charged.
- New This Year– Adult homeowners will be asked to provide an identifying photo id such as drivers license upon signing in at the front desk. Children entering without adults will be asked for their address. Remember, the pool is an asset of the neighborhood that we all pay for thru our dues. Lets not give it away for free by allowing guests to avoid paying their respective fees!
- Children 8-12– Children in this age range need to complete a swim test with a managing lifeguard and have their parents sign a disclosure form if they want to come to the pool without an adult guardian.
- Wading Pool- This pool is limited to children 5 years of age or younger.
- Glass Containers– As you might have guessed and for those who have read prior letters, Glass containers are not allowed on the pool deck. This includes beers bottles, wine bottles, etc! If a guard discovers a homeowner not following this policy, they will be asked to leave the pool deck.
Ok, now that the rules and regulations have been shared, onto the fun stuff. We have many activities planned for the season including the Fox Point Swim team and Fox Point water polo team. We will be hosting 3 swim meets and 3 water polo matches this season. Please be sure to come on down and root on your neighbors, while being respectful of parking signage!
For those who missed the announcement on NextDoor, we will be offering swim lessons for children ages 4-6 weekdays at 11am during the swim team season. Please send me an email at hseelyb@gmail.com if you have an interest in this program.
The pool hours along with a full summer schedule will be posted on the website in the next few weeks so you can plan your summer outings accordingly. One noticeable change from last year is the opening time on weekends. Given the lack of attendance at 10am last year, we have pushed the opening time back to 11am on Saturdays and Sundays.
And finally, we have begun preliminary discussions with a few architects to renovate the pool house. Our primary goal is to provide a much needed facelift to the existing bathrooms, add a family bathroom, and re-configure the entrance. We will have more information as the designs/expense become clearer and will certainly provide an opportunity for homeowner feedback via an open house this summer.
If you have any questions/comments/ideas regarding the pool, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Social
By Stephanie Paine | Email
Spring social events have gone off without a hitch! Big thanks to Jodi Johnson for coordinating the egg hunt on March 17 and to Melissa Mickey and Christie Hewlett for spearheading the annual Card Party on April 20. The Card Party was a hit at the new venue, Makray, and the winners were the Bammi/Miseyka foursome (1st) and the Paine/Livingston foursome (2nd). The two foursomes tied for first and had to do a card pull to determine the winner. It was a great night shared by neighbors of all ages!
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Social Events:
Fishing Derby – May 26, 8:30 am
Join us for the annual Fox Point Fishing Derby! Kids will compete for prize for the “Most Fish” and “Longest Fish” within their age category. Bait and snacks will be provided – but please bring your own fishing poles and sunglasses (safety goggles for flying hooks!).
Pool Season Kickoff Social (**Tentative Depending on Weather**) – May 27 at 4 pm
Celebrate the start of pool season with your neighbors and friends! We will have a DJ onsite and a Nacho Bar from Chuy’s. This event is weather dependent and we will circulate final details via NextDoor in the coming weeks.
Food Trucks – save the date for the following food truck visits at the pool:
June 22 – Primo Pizza Food Truck. Slices available for $3 and full 12-inch pizzas available for $11.
No need to RSVP – Primo’s will accept payment at the truck.
July 14 – Hubby’s Dog House (Hot dog cart with dogs and nachos). We will sell tickets for individual items via SignUpGenius in the weeks before the food truck.
