Fox Point Update: April 2026 Edition

  • On March 27, 2026

President’s Letter

By Andrew Schwarz | Email

It is wonderful to see our neighborhood start its spring transformation, from rising daffodils and leaf buds to refreshed landscaping and sports in full swing.

Likewise, the Board is currently hard at work behind the scenes to ensure our community amenities are in top shape for the warm weather, managing maintenance at the pool and preparing the lake for the upcoming fishing and recreational season. I’d like to thank our Board members, Swim Team Committee, Welcoming Committee, Social Committee, and all the others who volunteer their time for the benefit of our residents.

Maintaining small, courteous habits help keep our shared spaces beautiful, welcoming, and safe for all residents and pets alike.  To that end, please remember to keep dogs on leashes (or behind electric fences) at all times and ensure all pet waste is picked up and placed in a trash receptacle.

Finally, Happy Easter to all!  My best wishes to you and yours.

Treasurer Report

Hello neighbors! Thank you for your continued support of the Fox Point community with your timely payment of annual assessments. My December 2025 newsletter provided assessment details with the growth being driven by two main factors: 1) increased cost of goods and services and 2) underfunded reserves. We appreciate your partnership of Fox Point’s operations!

Social Report

By Kate Feit | Email

Hello, Fox Point!

I hope everyone had a lovely spring break.  As of writing this, I’m near the end of March Madness Bracket…. again! This is not my sport.  I’ll announce the winners on Instagram and via email!  Please check out the committee sign-up below.  I need your help!

Also, we are in the midst of planning the senior car parade – if you have a graduating senior, please keep your eyes out for dates and sign-ups!

2026 Event Committee Sign-up

Sign-up is now available for the 2026 Social Event Committees! I can’t do this without you 🙂

For the continuation of the events we have come to expect in the Fox Point community, we need volunteers to take part in committees responsible for planning and executing each event.

More information and committee signups are available HERE.

Additional Communication Methods

I would like to highlight two other methods of communication for Social: the social email distribution list and Instagram.  If you are interested in joining the email list, please email social@foxpoint.org to opt in – and please follow @foxpoint_barrington on Instagram.  Please make sure to DM me on Instagram when you request to follow as it is a private account and I will only accept Fox Point residents.

Fox Point Merch

It’s cold out there!  Need a new sweatshirt? We have partnered with The Imprintery for Fox Point spiritwear.  There is no deadline for ordering spiritware and you can place your order at any time for delivery or free local pickup at their location in town.  The direct link to our spiritwear page can be found here.

Please see the following letter from our Village President, Mike Moran. Thank you, Mike, for keeping Fox Point updated on the improvements and new businesses in the village!

Fellow Fox Pointers,

I’m excited to announce that Phase 1 of the downtown streetscape enhancement project is underway. Over the next few months, we will be making some big improvements along Cook Street, Station Street and the northwest segment of Park Avenue… Please click here to continue reading.

Architecture Report

The Phase 1 boat dock seawall remains our top priority this year. The Board is working with our lake engineer and will review the permit process and installation plans in the coming weeks, aiming to begin construction this year and keep the land high and dry.

Happy Easter!

Safety & Welfare Report

By Greg Salter | Email

Spring is a special time of year in Fox Point, and it is always wonderful to see more and more neighbors enjoying the outdoors with the nicer weather and later sunsets. As the streets get busier, it’s the perfect time to take a deep breath, relax, and look out for one another. Here are a few friendly reminders on the best ways we can keep our roads safe for everyone:

  • When we are walking or running, walk against traffic (on the left side of the road): facing oncoming cars allows you to see vehicles approaching and gives you the opportunity to step further off the pavement if a driver doesn’t see you.
  • When we are biking, bike with traffic (on the right side of the road): drivers expect all wheeled traffic to move in the same direction. Riding against traffic is dangerous because drivers turning at intersections or pulling out of driveways are less likely to see fast-moving objects coming from the “wrong” direction.
  • Stick to the 25 MPH speed limit, and slow down further when you see pedestrian or bicycle traffic. Leave home 30 seconds earlier, or arrive home 30 seconds later to keep our streets as the quiet, relaxed space we all love.
  • Bikers and joggers are back out on the Lake Cook sidewalks. When exiting the neighborhood, make a full and complete stop before the crosswalks, and check the sidewalk in both directions before proceeding.

Thank you for your help in keeping Fox Point safe!

Lake Report

By Steve Kipferl | Email

Spring on the lake is here! If you have not renewed your boat rack storage permit, please do so as soon as possible by contacting lake@foxpoint.org with your slip number, last name, contact information and address. If you are no longer interested in keeping your boat or rack spot, kindly contact lake@foxpoint.org.

Please check the conditions of your boats prior to using them. Check the plugs in the back of boats as well.

The lake committee is continuing to meet on the second Monday of the month at 8:00 pm. If you are interested in attending the virtual meetings, we would love to have you. Contact lake@foxpoint.org for meeting links and details.

If you live on the lake, near the stream, or near the small pond, please be aware that beaver activity picks up in the spring. There are currently no resident beavers on the lake, but they will travel from the Cuba marsh upstream for food and material. Please wrap your small shrubs and trees accordingly for protection using wire cages if you wish to prevent them from being potentially removed by beavers. The HOA is never liable for wildlife activity or damage to private property and homeowners will be responsible for damage to their trees or property as a result of any and all animal activity.

Beaver damage prevention tips can be found HERE.

Pool Report

By Adam Clementi | Email

Preseason maintenance and preparations for the upcoming Pool season continue! The water is on, and cleanup of the pool and surrounding area will begin this month. While we may not be able to address all the items on our wish list right away, the board has approved replacing our acid pumps and purchasing a new pool vacuum for the season.

The Swim team committee has been hard at work prepping for the dolphin’s summer season and team registration will open on April 6th. View HERE.

Swim lessons sign-up will be available on the Omnify website on April 20th. We are still waiting for the backend upgrade of that platform to post latest information, but you can get general information HERE in the meantime.

If you do not have a login to that site, and have not done so already, please email me at pool@foxpoint.org.

Tennis Report

By Jordan Linville | Email

The nets and windscreens will be put up around March 28.  Fox Point residents will be able to play immediately, but please note that the courts will not be pressure-washed until the following week. The courts may be slippery, especially on the eastern end near the trees. Pickleball nets will be out, but please note that their condition has not yet been assessed.

This summer, we again plan to offer tennis lessons for kids. If you are interested, please click this signup form. I am also working on finding an instructor for adult pickleball lessons, but no luck, yet.  If you know anyone who might want to teach pickleball, please email me at tennis@foxpoint.org.

In short, the courts are likely open by the time you read this!
