Happy Spring!! To say it has been a unique time in our lives is an understatement. I hope that each and everyone is staying healthy and maintaining some level of sanity in these very trying times.
We continue to move forward with our agenda in Fox Point and adjust where necessary due to the current challenges.
I am using Nextdoor to try to keep everyone up to date on our pool house and our pool opening for the pending season. The pool house is nearly done and once you see a new roof and new garage door it should be close to being complete. It will be done early and slightly under budget which is great news!! Due to the stay at home order, the pool will not be opening Memorial Day weekend, unfortunately.
We hope to open the pool either late or at least sometime this Summer, but it is really up to the discretion of the State of Illinois and the Department of Public Health in terms of what they will allow. We continue to plan for the “best and worst-case” scenarios for this summer’s pool season. Our number one concern is everyone’s safety and health and we will do our best to trying to get the pool open while meeting all necessary State requirements! As we get more information, I will be posting it on Nextdoor.
Did someone mention Lake Louise…………
We have an incredible lake that really has been forgotten about and underutilized for many years. For the summer of 2020 I think we all need to be very creative and look to other outside family activities within Fox Point. I invite everyone to revitalize lake activities either through boating, fishing, a sunset cruise, a tour of our exotic island, or potentially sailing races as we head into summer. There are tons of boats in the neighborhood and I am sure many neighbors would be more than happy to lend a boat.
Our team also continues to push forward with capital improvements within the neighborhood and this year we will see a very large rebuilding of our front entrance walls & fence. The walls will be getting a needed facelift with a new decorative fence.
The Board is here of you need us and always available. Please continue to be safe and healthy.

Fox Point High School Senior Car Parade:
Fox Point is looking for all of the High School Graduating Seniors so that we may recognize their accomplishments and celebrate them with a neighborhood car parade! Once we have a compilation of all our students, we will finalize a date.
What do I need from you? If you have/are a high school graduate please reach out to Margaret Graff (mgraff1126@gmail.com) with your contact information (name, high school, address) so that we can map out logistics and leave something special on your mailbox to be recognized. We would appreciate this information by May 5th
Non-Senior Parents/Neighbors: I need your help to make our Fox Point Graduates feel extra loved during the parade. I’m talking signs, noisemakers, confetti!
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions and/or if you’d like to assist in any of the parade efforts!
Please continue checking the calendar for a current update of social activities.
Stay well, everyone!

A special thank you to those homeowners who returned the Fox Point Census form with their annual assessments. We received some valuable feedback that we hope to be able to incorporate into FPHA discussions. For those of you that still want to contribute ideas, I’ve included the form here. (Census Form)
Note: The Census form also includes demographic information – which allows us to stay current on the make-up of the neighborhood. All information is kept confidential – but is helpful for things like Pool Access records, considering asset needs, social events, etc.

Happy Spring everyone!
Hope everyone is safe and staying healthy!
I’m sure like most of us, many of you have been outside and walking around the neighborhood. The weather is starting to turn, and the flowers are starting to pop. The landscaping crew has been hard at work to make sure our grounds are in top shape. They’ve completed the spring clean-up, edged all the beds, and put down the mulch. Since most of us will be out and about regularly over the next few weeks, I’m hoping they will be able to put out some extra flowers for everyone to enjoy.
I do have what I think is some great news on the monument entrance walls! The board has decided to move forward with that project this year. It will be an extensive renovation that should preserve those structures for many years to come. Each wall will come with its own challenges and be addressed accordingly. This will NOT be a teardown and rebuild, however, each brick will be addressed if needed. This could entail partial rebuilds in spots or minor tuckpointing, depending on the damage. My hope is to get started with this project sometime in May once all the of the details have been completed. This includes communication with the four homeowners who are up against those walls and any type of permits that we must have in place with the village. Please allow me some grace as the project moves forward. It will have some moving parts. I will do my best to update you on the progress each month!
As always, please let me know if you see something that needs attention or have any questions or concerns.
Lake

With the executive order from Governor Pritzker stating that the state of Illinois will remain under a Stay-at-Home order until May 30 everyone is probably getting a little stir crazy. While following proper social distancing, perhaps now is the time to get out on the lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery and relaxation it provides. There are many types of birds on the island as well as many other animals that take refuge on the lake.
With that said, it is time for a friendly reminder, Lake Louise is a non-motorized lake meaning no motors of any kind are allowed. Sailboats, paddleboards, and boats that are oar powered are examples that are allowed. Gas or Electric motors of any kind are not allowed, there is an exception for vendors we utilize to handle the maintenance of the lake, but that is it. This goes for wintertime as well. We did receive reports of someone snowmobiling on the lake and this is not allowed.
Regarding lake maintenance, we reinstalled the aerators in the pond and in the bay on the main lake to help water movement in quiet areas. You may have also noticed a controlled burn on the creek that flows into the lake. This is done annually to control evasive plants and help new plants take hold to help slow down erosion.
It’s getting warmer so come out and enjoy the lake, of course, remember to follow the social distancing requirements while you are out.
Pool

The pool house renovation is nearly complete. You may have noticed that the pool house exterior was recently painted, and the finishing touches are being added to the interior. We passed our Illinois Department of Public Health inspection on the Pool House renovation work. Over the next 2 weeks, additional work will include a new roof, siding, and garage door. Thank you to the efforts of all involved with special mention to Tiffany Seely-Brown and Geoff Ommen for their vision and execution of this project delivered ahead of schedule and under budget.
We are continuing to monitor instructions by the State of Illinois and the Department of Public Health in addition to reaching out to other pool directors and our service partners regarding the opening of the Fox Point Pool. We are also brainstorming various plans for limited use scenarios and are also considering the addition of cleaning services that may be needed to protect the health and safety of residents and pool staff.
In the meantime, we are continuing to go through all of the work needed to prepare the pool to pass inspection.
As always, please reach out to me or the Board if you have any questions or comments. Please stay safe and be well.
Safety & Welfare

As more and more people have taken to walking, running, and biking in the neighborhood, I wanted to remind neighbors to adhere to proper road etiquette. Those who walk or run should do so going against traffic (left side of the street) and those that bike should ride with traffic (right side of the street). This would help us, as a neighborhood, keep within our social distancing guidelines, and avoid people walking at you on the wrong side of the street.
Drivers: Simple reminder to reduce your speed.
In accordance with the Village of Barrington and our own logical standards, we have closed the playground until further notice. We have roped off the area to let neighbors know not to use those assets until the mandate by the village is lifted. We have no way to manage and guarantee the cleanliness of these assets. The proximity of children playing on the playground goes against social distancing policies.
Homeowners: Simple reminder to get those gas lamps lit up.
Pet Owners: Please clean up after your pets! Both on private lots and on our common grounds!
Tennis
By Mark Johnson | Email
This month’s newsletter offers a couple of reminders:
- The tennis courts currently remain closed and locked up until the stay-at-home order is fully lifted or modified to allow for tennis.
- You can still sign up for tennis lessons beginning June 8th via SUG: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090d4baba622a6ff2-foxpoint1 Please review the refund policy.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding the stay-at-home order, please look for periodic updates on Nextdoor over the next month. I will do my best to provide updates about the availability of the tennis courts and potential revisions of the lesson schedule.
