Hopefully everyone is fully enjoying their summer. My daughter is enjoying summer to the fullest. Most recently she completed what may almost be known as a rite of passage for 5/6 year olds in Barrington… Safety Town. Thank you to all the volunteers (lots of Fox Pointers) that contribute their time to this outstanding educational event.
So as you may have guessed, we are having lots of discussions about “Safety.” Here are a couple of the highlights that are applicable to Fox Point.
“Look both ways before you cross.” Please be careful when crossing Lake Cook Road.
“Slow down.” Definitely applicable for those of us driving in Fox Point.
“No running at the pool.” Generally a good idea regardless of your age.
If you would like to hear more, just ask one of our Fox Point Safety Town graduates and I’m sure they will be happy to share.
On the topic of safety, I would like to express my appreciation to our lifeguards, many of which are Fox Point residents. Not only do our lifeguards have responsibility for the safety in and around our pool, they are also serving as examples to our Fox Point youth. So please treat our lifeguards with respect.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Fox Point Swim Team on another successful year and BIG THANK YOU to all of the Fox Point Swim Team volunteers that make it happen. A special thank you to Doreen Colletti-Muhs and Tammy Kerr for all of their coordination efforts and for hosting the Swim Team Banquet.
We had a relatively low key July Board meeting that enabled us to work on some administrative items. One of these is the beginning of our prep work for the 2018 Budget. If you have any items that you would like discussed for inclusion, please contact the respective Board member or myself.
You are also welcome to join us at one of our upcoming Board Meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month. As always, please review the individual Board reports for more details on current activities.
Please let us know if we can be of service to you. Your Fox Point Board is committed to working to ensure that our community continues to be an outstanding place to grow families; to build relationships; and to simply experience the blessings of life.

July was a fun month around Fox Point! The pool was packed over July 4th weekend, and our annual July 4th Pool Games were a blast thanks to our emcee, Kris Jankowski, and his helper, Steve Nuzzo. Kris has promised to return next year.
The fun continued on July 22 for our annual adult pool party – A big thanks to our event chairs, Stacy Boyum, Emily Colon & Lindsay Keenan (first picture below) for coordinating Fox-aritaville! The food and drinks were delicious and over 100 neighbors of all ages gathered to sing and dance alongside Dario and his piano.

News flash…. One Month Left of Pool Season! While its hard to believe, we only have 5 weeks remaining in the season. Make sure to get out and enjoy these last few weeks in one of the greatest assets in the neighborhood.
Congrats to the Swim Team and Water Polo members on successful seasons! It is truly enjoyable to see the excitement in our younger residents as they partake in both practice and competition. It always takes me back to my childhood when things were a bit simpler and serves as a good reminder to focus on those things that are most important in life.
You may have noticed the new recycle bins at the pool. Please pass along a big thanks to Helen Lodowsky for her donation and time and effort putting in place. Please also remind your children than only recyclables can be put in these bins as I know on occasion some reach for the closest garbage can!
Guest fees continue to be a hot topic, in particular the policy for nannies/live in house guests. The current policy allows for these individuals to pay $8/week or $50/summer to attend the pool versus the $5/day standard guest fee. We can certainly pro-rate as we enter the final month if you need to register such a guest. The standard guest fee is $5/day and I think all would agree is minimal in nature, especially compared to other facilities in the area.
As we review usage for 2017, we are already looking ahead to pool hours and activities for 2018. If there is something you would like to see different or have activity suggestions, again, please reach out!
Enjoy these waning days of Summer and see you around the pool!
