- On December 30, 2025
President’s Letter
By Jeana Garms | Email
Happy New Year Fox Point! As we look forward to 2026, I want to thank all our neighbors and our board members for their efforts to create an amazing environment for our families to grow and thrive. In particular I want to recognize the efforts of our 2025 board members Steven Kipferl, Susan Lunt, Criss Chang, Jason Ehlert, Greg Salter, Lisa Brooks, Kate Feit, Taylor Shanfeld, Lindsay Keenan, and Andrew Schwarz for the time and effort they have dedicated throughout the past year. With various projects completed, assets running well, and a keen eye to financial stewardship, these men and women put others before themselves as they took their responsibility seriously for which I, as your president, am grateful for their commitment.
My ask as I prepare to pass on the President’s position, is that everyone in our community remembers that it takes a village and to please get involved, and participate, because that is the secret to continually making Fox Point a desirable community.
All the best for 2026 and beyond.

In 2025, we managed the HOA’s finances by enhancing our banking relationships to maximize revenue and managing electronic vendor payments to support timely and accurate financial statement reporting and budget preparation. We will remain diligent in the stewardship of the budget in the upcoming year.

Happy New Year! A huge thank you to the Twitchalls for hosting Santa Claus this year. I still can’t believe I got to hang out with the big guy and his elf all day. (See photo below)
As we start the new year, I would like to highlight two other methods of communication for Social: the social email distribution list and Instagram. If you are interested in joining the email list, please email social@foxpoint.org to opt in – and please follow @foxpoint_barrington on Instagram. Please DM me on Instagram when you request to follow (especially if your handle does not make it obvious who you are) as it is a private account and I will only accept Fox Point residents.

Happy New Year! Fox Point welcomed 15 new families in 2025. I want to thank Sarah Guinchedi, Chairman of the FP Welcome Committee, along with Robin Fraczek and Jenny Postma for being on hand to greet the new families and make everyone feel at home. The committee and Board also hosted a pool party in August providing a fun and relaxed way for neighbors to connect.
In June, the FP Garage Sale returned with about 16 homes participating. It was wonderful to see neighbors out and about supporting each other.
Finally, our neighborhood stands out due to its people and their community involvement. If you know someone whose contributions deserve recognition, please feel free to contact me so we can share those efforts in future newsletters. Thank you!

Happy New Year. If you are planning an exterior alteration project in early 2026, please reach out to me for guidance on the application process.
In late December we learned that Fox Point was not awarded any grant funding by the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission for our shoreline restoration work at the boat landings area. Over the next few weeks, the Board will decide how to proceed with the project.

Happy New Year, Fox Pointers! As we are still in the midst of the shortest days of the year, I wanted to once again request that walkers and drivers be vigilant on the Fox Point roads when it is dark out. Please wear reflective clothing and bring lights if you are walking, and please make sure you are driving slowly and watching for pedestrians when driving. The night after Christmas, I witnessed a car come within inches of hitting a dog being walked along North Valley. Fortunately, everyone was okay, but it served as a stark reminder of how important it is to be ultra-aware of our surroundings. Let’s keep each other safe!
Lake Report

Hello neighbors, and happy New Year! We have had a nice 2025 year on the water with fish sizes increasing as noted in county fish surveys this fall. We have also seen an increase in weed growth as intended. 2026 will bring a focus on controlling and regulating our weed growth on the lake now that it has re-established.
As we transition into mid to late winter and early spring, please be aware that the ice conditions on the lake will change. Therefore, exercise caution when venturing onto the ice. If you plan to go alone, please travel with a partner.
Keep your eye on the Instagram and social feeds for any winter lake events. At some point we would like to repeat the pop-up lake party we had last year with skating, ice fishing, and hockey.
If you are interested in discussing lake health or special projects that will take place throughout the year, please reach out to the lake chair at lake@foxpoint.org. You will have the opportunity to get involved with the lake management. The committee is always looking for project leaders and new ideas.
The lake committee is excited about another fantastic year. Please stay updated on the lake’s activities by reading the newsletter throughout the year. As spring approaches, we will outline a rough agenda for the year and as projects are planned and done, they will be reported here.
See you on the water!
