Fox Point Update: June 2025 Edition

  • On June 2, 2025

President’s Letter

By Jeana Garms | Email

The weather is warming and school is out – that means another Summer is upon us. And as you can see with all the work being done over the past few weeks from the pool to the tennis courts and around the lake, we are ready to go! Not to mention how good that shiny new fence being installed looks. None of this would happen if it weren’t for our committed board members and committees who each volunteer their time to make Fox Point the fantastic place to live that it is.

There is a lot going on over the next couple of months so please be sure to read through the various board member reports to stay on top of all that is happening.

Architecture Report

By Andrew Schwarz | Email

Aside from a steady stream of Architecture applications, my focus remains on advancing the seawall project at our Boat Landings area on LSDN.

Our contractor has secured approvals from the county, state, and Army Corp of Engineers.  Final approvals rest with Barrington which is responsible for stormwater management in the village.  Given that part of our common space at the lake lies in floodplain, there are ongoing discussions related to the final elevation of the steel seawall.

We are planning to meet in person with the Village over the next several weeks to finalize the matter.  Our goals remain to install/backfill the seawall as high as practical and complete the project in 2026.

Safety and Welfare Report

By Greg Salter | Email

One of the best parts of summer in Fox Point is seeing so many neighbors out walking, biking, and enjoying the sunshine. As the warm weather brings more activity to our streets, it’s a great time to share a few quick reminders to help keep everyone safe.

Please be mindful of your speed when driving through the neighborhood, especially when passing pedestrians, cyclists, or children playing. Even a few extra miles per hour can make a big difference in reaction time and safety.

We’ve also seen more electric scooters around the neighborhood lately, so just a quick heads-up: the Village of Barrington doesn’t allow them on public streets or sidewalks. It’s not a widely known rule (I only learned about it recently myself), so I thought it was worth passing along.

Thanks for helping keep Fox Point a safe and welcoming place for everyone this summer!

Lake Report

By Steven Kipferl | Email

Calling all volunteers!!! The Lake committee needs your help this summer! We are looking for volunteers to help with several events at the lake.  The only way we can make these events special is with your help!

The annual fishing derby will be in July again this year. Look for a date in the next newsletter. We need several volunteers who are interested in helping coordinate events and assist in weigh-ins, prize duty, and registration. If you would like to volunteer a few hours of time to help with a great event, please reach out to lake@foxpoint.org. Teen volunteers are welcome as well.

Boat owners who wish to stay on the rack please reach out to lake@foxpoint.org if you have not done so already. Thanks to those who have responded. I have you on the list. We are still waiting on quite a few responses. Boats that have not been accounted for will be removed from the rack and owners will have until JULY 1 to dispose of the boats or contact lake@foxpoint.org to register. The remaining boats after July 1 are going to be disposed of or given away.

Reminder on rules at the boat rack:

  • All boats are to remain locked when on the rack.
  • The rack consists of private boats. Please tell your children or teens to request permission before using a neighbor’s boat.
  • When finished with your boats, please return them to the rack. Do not leave your boat on the shore. Boats left on the shore will be moved to the end of the rack. Boats moved multiple times by the committee are subject to loss of boat rack spot without refund.

Lake health is excellent and clarity is outstanding. Fishing has been excellent with anglers landing striped bass, northern pike, largemouth bass, panfish of all varieties, channel catfish, and carp.

Carp removal was tremendously successful this year with Lake County shocking and removing an estimated 4000 lbs. of carp from the lake. They will return as part of a 3-year lake survey for the next spring for further mitigation, in conjunction with the installation of the carp barrier at the dam this year. This partnership with the county is a tremendous cost savings to the HOA and we are getting an estimated 75% discount as a result!

If you would like to join the lake committee, please contact the lake chair at the email listed above. If you are interested in participating in the committee meetings, please join the Google Meet below. All are welcome! Lake committee meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month at 8 pm via Google Meet.
