What a gorgeous summer to be in Fox Point!!! We have finally reached the point in which we have some incredible weather to enjoy.
We had a great meeting with quite a few neighbors on July 15th to discuss the new plans for the pool house renovation. We received a ton of good suggestions as well as provided clarification on a wide variety of things related to the modernization project. The project continues to move forward with the actual construction to begin at the end of the 2019 pool season. It will be completed by the start of the new season in May of 2020.
Thank you to all that made the 4th of July such a great time in Fox Point!!! We had hundreds of neighbors at the pool enjoying the incredible weather, the pool games, the hot dogs, and the ice cream bar. I think everyone that attended had an exceptional time. Again thank you to all that helped make this a great day!!
I look forward to seeing everyone throughout Fox Point.

Architecture
By Geoff Ommen | Email
Hello neighbors,
I have fielded a few calls on solar panels in recent weeks. I figure it is time to recap where we stand.
At the February Board meeting, we discussed solar panel installation as it relates to the architecture process. The board decided in February that panel installation IS something that falls under the architecture review process. The board asks that all homeowners use the architecture form when getting panels installed.
During the discussion, Illinois legislation that was passed in 2011 was talked about (known as Public Act 096-1436). The following excerpt from this legislation sums up the board’s ability to regulate solar panels:
Section 15. Associations;
prohibitions. Notwithstanding Any provision of this Act or other provision of law, the adoption of a bylaw or exercise of any power by the governing antity of a homeowners’ association, common interest community association, or condominium unit owners’ association which Prohibits or has the effect of prohibiting the installation of a solar energy system is expressly prohibited. Basically a HOA CANNOT prohibit solar panel installation and CAN NOT reduce the effectiveness of an installation by regulating where homeowners put their systems. A link to the full legislation is below:
http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/publicacts/fulltext.asp?Name=096-1436
Most common solar panels today are not aesthetically pleasing. Because they are a rarity today they may initially stick out like a sore thumb. However, because of the government incentives being offered at the state and federal level, along with the legislation protecting these installations, they will become more and more common and accepted.

Any neighbor wishing to install Solar Panels or another exterior project on the FPHA list needs to complete an Architectural Application Form
Please keep in mind that the spirit of the architectural form is to acknowledge that your neighbor reached out to you to say they are going to start an exterior project in the future.
And subsequently to inform the FPHA Board and get approval. They are not for an individual homeowner to approve or disapprove of a project.
Common Grounds

Hope everyone continues to enjoy their summer! It keeps rolling along and now we at least have some hot weather for the pool.
Just a couple of quick updates this month. We do have some minor damage to the wood fence that runs along Lake Cook road. Most of the damage consists of holes in the fencing. I should have a vendor out soon to replace those boards.
Also, I did notice that a couple of the cul-de-sacs have not been maintained by the landscaping crew- especially, over by Oxbow. This seems to be a matter of the crew not knowing the location of the cul-de-sac. That has been noted and the crew came back out to get those areas in shape.
Please feel free to drop me a note or give me a call if you notice something that needs attention. I try to drive through the neighborhood once, a week to make sure the grounds are in good shape. However, if I miss something, I’d love to know.

Time flies when you are having fun! It’s hard to believe, but we are into the final month of the pool season! Get out and enjoy the pool and “old” pool house before we shut the doors for the season after Labor Day Weekend!
I say “old” pool house as we are slated to begin the renovation project in early September upon the season ending. Prior to the last board meeting on July 15th, we held an open house for the neighborhood to come out and learn more about the project. The turnout was great with 20 plus neighbors representing both long time residents and some of our newest residents in attendance to learn about the new layout, projected costs and timeline. The meeting was very positive with numerous ideas to add little touches here and there to enhance the overall project. We were excited to see the overall support from the neighborhood and look forward to the ribbon cutting in May 2020!
The project remains on target as we have gone to permitting at both the local and state levels and expect to receive approvals in early August. If you have any questions on this undertaking, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
While the project has become our primary focus, we do have a few other updates. First, I would like to again thank our Swim Team and Water Polo chairs for successful seasons. The end of year banquet was a huge success with Primo Pizza cooking pizzas on site and creative pool games keeping the kids smiling and laughing from ear to ear. It was truly a great site to see.
Additionally, I wanted to thank the Paine and Livingston families for bringing back an old tradition on the 4th of July. They braved the heat to cook hot dogs and brats on the pool deck for 3 hours, while also serving ice cream sundaes! Its acts like this that make us truly feel like Fox Point is not just a bunch of homes but a true neighborhood.
As always, if you have any ideas, suggestions on ways to improve the overall pool experience, please let me know!
Tennis
By Christine Mickey | Email
Fox Point residents have been enjoying the tennis courts this summer! First Serve has had a record number of enrollments for the adult and junior tennis clinics. Classes will continue to run through the last week of July.
Please remember that the tennis courts are for tennis only. No biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, hockey, dog walking, etc. Please help to keep our new courts in great shape!
The annual Fox Point vs. Biltmore Country Club tennis tournament will be held on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6th at 5:00 PM. All tennis levels welcome! We will start the event with cocktails and appetizers by the courts followed by several rounds of round robin tennis. The evening will conclude with a buffet dinner on Biltmore’s outside patio. Please use this link to sign up by August 30th: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080c48a8a92fa4fa7-foxpoint20
See you on the courts!
